Overview
In the Department of Applied Chemistry for Environment, students will find education and research opportunities to study applied chemistry and materials science that can be used in engineering. The Department provides (1) highly specialized education on applied chemistry and materials science and (2) project-based learning to groom students with a practical problem-solving ability that can be used in their future careers. We also (3) nurture researchers who will play leading roles in international society. The ultimate goal of our education is to foster researchers who will have the ability to solve global environmental and energy-related problems using applied chemistry and materials science and to develop innovative materials and biomaterials that can be used in medicine to foster the sustainable development of humankind.
The Department is characterized by (1) world-leading research carried out by our faculty members and (2) a wide range of research in fields of applied chemistry and materials science covered by our 13 laboratories. We focus particularly on materials applied in energy- and environment-related fields, syntheses of innovative materials, and development of biomaterials applied in medical fields. Research groups in the Department are highly acclaimed both in Japan and overseas.
